Governance
MIS’s Acts of Endowment clearly delineate the school’s mission: ‘The school shall carry out school-based education pursuant to the Fundamental Law of Education and the school Education Law, with the objective of fostering global-minded citizens capable of functioning in international society.’
Makuhari International School’s Governance is conducted by a Board of Directors and a Board of Trustees.
The activities of the Board of Directors and Trustees ensure that all aspects of the school’s operations are in compliance with its Article One Status ? this includes ethical considerations as well as educational and operational considerations. Board membership is open with places reserved for parents and teachers as well as educational experts.
The Board meets every term with the Chairman and Head of School presenting updates and making proposals for approval and/or consideration. The Chair of the Board is in constant dialogue with the Head of School and Senior Management Team to ensure the effective management of the school.
“The Board of Directors and Board of Trustees are constituted so as to provide MIS with sound direction, continuity of leadership and practical support in the current and long term, are strategic with regard the long-term development of the school, and always prioritize the needs of the school.” – CIS Accreditation Team, April 2017
